Kingwood Garden Center Second Annual Tomato & Vegetable Contest

Show us the fruits of your labor – enter your submissions before 12:00 p.m.

Guest Judge, Tom LeRoy, Montgomery County Extension Agent – Horticulture, Texas Agrilife Services will join us to select winners for the following categories:

Tomato Contest
Best Quality Tomatoes

Entrants should provide three tomatoes. Judging based on overall quality, including appearance, meatiness, and taste.

  • 1st Prize: $100 gift card plus award certificate
  • 2nd Prize: $50 gift card plus award certificate
  • 3rd Prize: $25 gift card plus award certificate

Biggest Tomato

Judging will be based on weight of tomato.

  • 1st Prize: $25 gift card plus award certificate

Best Vegetable Basket

Entrants should provide at least three different types of vegetables such as tomato, pepper, squash, cucumber, etc. Judging will be based on overall appearance, quality and artistic presentation.

  • 1st prize: $100 gift card plus award certificate
  • 2nd prize: $50 gift card plus award certificate
  • 3rd prize: $25 gift card plus award certificate

Best Tomato Junior Division

  • 1st prize: $25 gift card plus award certificate
  • Open to all children under 12 years of age

Entrants must fill out a registration form available at Kingwood Garden Center . Registration is absolutely FREE. No purchase required. All contestants must bring their entries to Kingwood Garden Center on Saturday, June 9, 2012 prior to 12:00 noon.

You may enter any or all of the categories. However, you must provide specimens for each category. One entry per category per person please.

Please read attached “Contest Rules and Show Specifications” before registration and contest show.

With the exception of the winners of the Best Quality Tomatoes and Best Vegetable Basket, all entries will be returned to the owner. In the case of Best Quality Tomatoes and Best Vegetable basket, the entries may be cut to determine quality and taste.
